- By SMS: You can also check your PNR status by sending an SMS to 139. Type "PNR" followed by your 10-digit PNR number and send it to 139. You will receive a text message with your PNR status.
- By phone: You can also check your PNR status by calling 139. Follow the instructions on the automated system and enter your 10-digit PNR number when prompted. You will hear a voice message with your PNR status.
What is PNR?
PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. It is a 10-digit alphanumeric code that is generated by the Indian Railways for each train ticket booking. Your PNR number is unique to your ticket and can be used to check your PNR status, make changes to your booking, or cancel your ticket.
What does my PNR status mean?
Your Check pnr status will tell you the current status of your train ticket. Possible statuses include:
- CNF: Confirmed - Your ticket is confirmed and you have a seat on the train.
- RAC: RAC - Your ticket is on the waiting list and you may or may not get a seat on the train.
- WL: Waiting List - Your ticket is on the waiting list and you have a low chance of getting a seat on the train.
- CNF WL: Confirmed Waitlist - Your ticket is confirmed but you have also been put on the waiting list for a better seat.
- CANCELLED: Your ticket has been canceled.
What if my PNR status is not confirmed?
If your PNR status is not confirmed, you will need to keep checking your status regularly to see if your ticket has been upgraded to confirmed. If your ticket is not confirmed by the time of departure, you may be able to get a refund or a seat on a different train.
